This Week in Tech 016: AI Clones and Disney bringing back TV Channels

Is that you or your digital clone?

Is that you or your digital clone?

This week's edition of "This Week in Tech" delves into exciting tech trends shaping our future. From digital clones acting as stand-ins at work, to concerns over generative AI in healthcare, the digital landscape is evolving rapidly. We also explore how advanced AI integration is becoming a critical skill for creatives. In hardware and software news, Microsoft tests ads in Windows 11's Start Menu, raising user concerns, and Logitech introduces an AI-enhanced mouse. In space exploration, Japan teams up with NASA to create a pressurized Moon campervan.

As technology intertwines more deeply with daily life, staying informed is more crucial than ever. Thank you for joining us in exploring these cutting-edge developments that continue to push the boundaries of what's possible.

Artificial Intelligence

The prospect of digital clones is quite exciting but it truly depends on how they are going to be used. If I can send my clone to work for me or get a second job I’m all for it. But I don’t want to be wondering if the first date that I’m on is with someone’s clone!

GenAI seems to be integrating every industry in our society. It seems the next one up to see a shake up is Healthcare. This could be good, but could also go terribly wrong.

Hardware & Software

Please no. No ads in my computer operating system. I hope you aren’t in that small set of Windows users. None of us.

There have been some scathing reviews of this device now that it’s out in the public. Check out this breakdown of this attempt to make an AI wearable mainstream.

  1. Delete files you don’t need

  2. Clean your hardware

  3. Update your software

  4. Run a privacy check

  5. Tidy your browser

  6. Remove unused apps

  7. Backup your files

Everybody is slapping AI into everything they can think of. Logitech is the next one up to add an AI button. This time it’s in a mouse. Didn’t think that would be where it would go. Check out what it can do.

Space

When NASA returns to the Moon, its astronauts will enjoy tooling around in a pressurized camper van courtesy of JAXA and Toyota. The two-person vehicle is part of a US/Japan agreement that includes putting the first Japanese astronauts on the Moon. Read more in the article to see the future of transportation in space. Brought to you by earthlings.

Something Extra

Disney is bringing back….TV Channels to their On Demand Streaming Service. How innovative, such amazing ideas that have never been explored before. Well, for once this is slightly different. The channels will be specific to genres like Marvel and Star Wars and play the movies and tv shows the service has under those brand umbrellas.
