Artificial Intelligence

  1. Your next job will require AI skills
AI fluency is the skill of 2025. It’s becoming a part of performance reviews, the hiring process and bringing significant productivity gains. (Growth Unhinged)

  2. The war for AI talent is just getting started
Four more employees depart Apple to join other AI efforts. A big departure from Apple’s robotics efforts is joining Meta’s Robotics Studio. (Apple Insider)

  3. HeyGen upgrades digital twin to Avatar IV

The latest update gets us closer to full body digital twins. This version emphasizes expressive, full-body motion that adapts to a user’s style. (Blue Lightning)

  4. Google is preparing to unleash their autonomous coding agent
They call it Jules and Google is betting it will disrupt the software development landscape. Read about the implications of their strategic launch. (Geeky Gadgets)

  5. Amazon launches Lens Live
An AI-powered shopping tool for use in the real world (TechCrunch)

Our vision
This job market has been quite tumultuous. We’ve seen people take hundreds of interviews to no avail all while increases in productivity are demanded in the workplace through the use of new AI tooling. With Google’s new coding agent on the horizon and the war for AI talent gaining steam it looks like we are headed towards a very competitive job market where workers are kept on their toes trying to stay relevant and employed.

Spatial Computing

  1. Battery life breakthrough could accelerate smart glasses adoption

Qualcomm has partnered with Belgian startup VoxelSensors to create longer-lasting smart glasses without compromise. (Tom’s Guide)

  2. Rokid glasses raise 1M+ in first week
Strong demand demonstrates the interest in smart glasses from consumers. Rokid is one of many competitors trying to carve out their share. (RoadToVR)

Our vision
Breakthroughs like improved battery life will be critical to the adoption of smart glasses in the mainstream. It’s clear the desire is there for a pair of glasses that are seen in movies like Free Guy, but the tech just isn’t ready yet. We’ll get examples of specific use cases becoming available but the holy grail of smart glasses might still be a few years away.

Robotics

  1. Tesla’s Optimus inches towards reality

Tesla's Optimus Gen 3 robot features 22-freedom hands, AI6 chips, and 40+ actuators, aiming to replace synthetic labor across industries. (AInvest)

  2. Realbotix’s new robot can communicate with humans

Realbotix’s linguistic expansion literally makes Aria a polyglot well-versed in languages like English, Spanish, Arabic, and Mandarin. (Thomasnet)

  3. Top 10 robotics developments of August 2025
Exciting new announcements and investments in the realm of robotics that push us closer to iRobot and Will Smith’s nightmare. (Robot Report)

  4. Runway is eyeing the robotics industry for growth
The company began to receive inbound interest from robotics and self-driving car companies looking to use their video generating technology. (TechCrunch)

Our vision
Tesla’s latest master plan shows their dedication to AI in the physical world manifested through their humanoid robot Optimus. Runway is leaning into the momentum that the robotics industry is gaining and has essential technology to simulate real world environments. With these and many other breakthroughs becoming mainstays in the news it’s clear that there’s no stopping the progress towards a future where robots walk among us straight out of Star Wars. By 2030 it could be eerily normal to see robots share our sidewalks and operate in our homes.

Transportation

  1. Waymo expands their service to Denver and Seattle
This time they’re using the new Zeekr van in addition their fleet of Jaguars. Their slow and steady expansion is a sign of what’s to come. (TechCrunch)

Our vision
With autonomous cars broadening their reach more and more people are getting to experience this new phenomenon. The last time I was in San Fran I was able to try out a Waymo and it’s both exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. While I thought we’d be at this stage 5 years ago and by now would have more widespread adoption, it’s clear the race is on to cover the roadways with driverless cars.

Space

  1. Space investing goes mainstream as VCs ditch rocket science requirements

We are seeing a shift in how VCs are approaching the industry of the final frontier. These bets might attract skepticism, but they provide windows into the future of startup investment. (TechCrunch)

Our vision
Where money flows talent will go. This might not hold true in all cases but it is clear that the private space industry is starting to boom after SpaceX has demonstrated what’s possible. That doesn’t mean that others will be able to replicate their success on such a grand scale, but there are plenty of niches to be explored and companies are starting to capitalize.
